Who can be applied to stomach tube surgery ?

It can be applied to people with a body mass index over 40 who do not have metabolic disease that can prevent surgery, as well as people with a body mass index over 35 and metabolic disease. Gastric sleeve surgery is not recommended for people with advanced diabetes and uncontrolled reflux. For the sleeve gastrectomy surgery, first of all, a medical examination is performed and the necessary routine tests are applied.

How much weight can I lose if I have stomach surgery?

As the size of the stomach decreases during surgery, the appetite decreases due to the elimination of the area where the hunger hormone (ghrelin) is secreted. The patient, whose appetite decreases, begins to lose weight rapidly. Weight loss is very rapid in the first months after surgery. During the first month, 15 to 20 kilos are lost on average, while the second month varies between 10 and 5 kilos. He should lose about 40 pounds in total in the first six months. The increase in the rate of weight loss varies depending on a person's adherence to the diet and exercise program.

At the end of the first 6 months, it is important to lose at least 60-70% of the target weight. If weight loss cannot be achieved at the targeted rate, research should be done. While losing weight, a balanced and careful diet is extremely important and ensures the preservation of quality of life.

Is there an age limit for stomach tube surgery?

The surgery can be applied to eligible people between the ages of 18-65. The age limit has been determined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a result of some studies. Given the observed increase in metabolic diseases in people aged 65 and over, this operation may be more risky.

Nutrition after gastric sleeve surgery

Since food absorption will decrease after surgery, people should take care to get all the minerals and vitamins they need from their diet. During the first week, only liquid foods should be given, and during the second week, a transition to pureed foods should be made. After three months, it is possible to switch to meat-type proteins and solid foods. Since the stomach is shaped like a banana during sleeve gastrectomy surgery, the body must be able to adapt to the new shape of the stomach.

Body Mass Index in Tube Stomach Surgery

Morbidly obese people with a body mass index above 40 are suitable for this operation. However, in order to reduce the risk of surgery in overweight patients, a diet and exercise program is applied to reduce the determined weight. Once the body mass index is reduced to the operational limit, the surgery is performed.

Back to normal after stomach surgery

Since the operation is performed laparoscopically (closed surgery), the process of getting back to normal is quick and comfortable. With closed surgery, the muscles and tissues in the abdominal region are not damaged. In this way, the patient returns to a normal life in a short time. On the first day, the patient gets up. The patient is discharged after 24 hours. Pain that develops as mild pain and pressure can be relieved with medication.

Scar after stomach surgery

In laparoscopic application, 4 fine incisions are made in the abdomen. The surgery is performed by penetrating through these incisions with a camera. After the operation, with effective wound care, the incisions become indistinct within 2 months. There is no permanent scar. In case of complications after the operation, the scar does not heal properly and may leave a scar. Post-operative care is extremely important.

Pain after gastric sleeve surgery

In surgical operations, minimal tissue damage is performed whenever possible. The closed gastric sleeve surgery procedure does not harm the abdominal region. Therefore, there is little or no pain. The effect of drugs applied specially for local anesthesia lasts for 10 hours. Post-operative pain remains at a minimum level.

After Tube Stomach Vitamin and Mineral Supplement

If problems are found in body values during postoperative checks and blood tests, vitamin and mineral supplements are started. However, if the patient is in good health and the body's reserves are full, there is no need to take supplements. People who do not get enough vitamins due to decreased absorption from food begin to feel tired. People who experience severe fatigue in the first six months can start taking vitamin supplements by getting a doctor's check.

Duration of hospitalization after gastric tube?

The length of hospitalization depends on the patient's pain threshold and the success of the operation. A 24-hour hospitalization may be sufficient for people with a short operation time and no complications. However, considering all the possibilities, the hospital stay can take up to three days. If the patient does not feel well and thinks he cannot bear his pain, this period can be extended. The gastric sleeve is not an intervention requiring a long hospital stay.

When will stitches heal after stomach surgery?

During the operation, sutures are placed inside and outside the body. Stitches inside are applied to protect the new shape of the stomach. 15 days are enough for these points to heal. The small incisions on the outside heal in the first week. 1 month is necessary for the complete healing of the stitches.

Transit bipartition

What is transit bipartition ?

It is the preferred and developed method of metabolic surgery in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The last part of the operation, which is carried out through the small intestine, is alternately connected to the stomach. In this way, the control of diabetes is ensured by stimulating the hormones of the small intestine.

Transit bipartition application

The surgical procedure performed to aid weight loss with Transit Bipartition is highly preferred today. It is a surgical method that gives success thanks to its restrictive and inhibitory properties of absorption. Its restrictive feature is part of the surgical operations that result in the removal of 70% of the stomach.

Transit bipartition success rate

As part of the research, after the study and examination of 1000 people with obesity problem, it was concluded that 94% of these people lost weight. This application, which quickly gives a feeling of satiety, helps to lose weight quickly. However, an 86% regression in diabetes has also been shown in patient studies. Extremely successful results have been achieved in correcting metabolic problems with transit bipartition.

Low risk and high success rate

Compared to surgery for obesity and diabetes, this treatment method has less risk than other treatment methods. The success rate of this low-risk method of treatment is extremely high. You can get rid of diseases with this application which is easily applicable and considered reliable.

Application of transit bipartition

Once the patient is ready for the treatment process, part of the stomach is removed at the start of the operation. In this way, the secretion of the hunger hormone Ghrelin is stopped and the desire to eat is eliminated. With the change to be made in the small intestine, the intestinal passage is created.

Advantages of Transit Bipartition

  • Anatomically, the procedure is completed preserving the integrity of the stomach and duodenum.
  • It allows to perform all kinds of endoscopic procedures if necessary after surgery.
  • After the operation, it can be easily brought back to normal with the patient's or doctor's recommendation.
  • By showing high hormonal activity, the patient is guaranteed to return to normal life in a short time.
  • Transit bipartition is performed more completely and reliably, unlike other sleeve gastrectomy surgeries. Not only the stomach is reduced, but the intestinal working system is also corrected.
  • It allows the patient to return to a normal life in a short time by performing treatment to prevent digestive problems.
